As Listening to the River field teams conduct Watershed Discovery activities, their collected media are stored and mapped. The map is the organizing mechanism for collected data. It is also the vehicle for display. When you see a map with icons representing photos, audio, video or combined multi-media, click the icon to see what was found. In some cases, media collected during an entire session form the basis of longer, published pieces about the watershed. These may be radio stories, videos or photo collections.

Grass River Natural Area Geocaching

Waterwatch Student Congress 2007

During the 12th annual Student River Congress, area students spent two 75 minute sessions geocaching and gathering small snippets of media.

Spring Break 2007 Workshop
April 3-5 of 2007 was no ordinary Spring Break for 12 teens. Snow and wind were the name of the game as this group combined several watershed excursions with editing and production.

Fall 2006 After-School Session
This after-school session was the first extended watershed discovery activity for the Listening to the River project. A group of 11 participants met weekly after school for eight weeks during the Fall of 2006.

Boardman to the Bay
Completed in mid June 2006, this was the Listening to the River Pilot session. With ten youth participants, we focused on the Boardman River from the Boardman Lake and the Traverse City Wastewater Treatment Plant to the mouth of the River.
